Scarlett Johansson’s Agent SLAMS Disney Over ‘Black Widow’ Legal War

Scarlett Johansson and Disney are in an all-out WAR, and now her agent is jumping in the middle claiming the company should be “ashamed” of themselves.

As we reported, Johansson filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Court accusing Disney of breaching her contract by releasing the latest Marvel movie on Disney+ and not exclusively in the theaters. According to Scarlett, this decision cost her millions in percentage from the box office sales.

Following the lawsuit, Disney issued a scathing statement accusing Scarlett of having “callous disregard” for the pandemic. “The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” they said. Adding, “Disney has fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date.”

Scarlett Johansson And Disney Are At WAR!

Now, Scarlett’s agent — Bryan Lourd — joined the fight and issued a NASTY statement accusing the company of “weaponizing her success as a businesswoman.” The CAA agent, who is the father of actress Billie Lourd, said, “Scarlett has been Disney’s partner on nine movies, which have earned Disney and its shareholders billions.”

He continued, “The company included her salary in their press statement in an attempt to weaponize her success as an artist and businesswoman as if that were something she should be ashamed of. Scarlett is extremely proud of the work that she and all of the actors, writers, directors, producers, and the Marvel creative team have been a part of for well over a decade.”

In his statement, Lourd agreed with Scarlett’s position saying Disney deliberately moved revenue from the movie to the Disney+ side of the company which left the actors and financial partners in the movie out of the equation. “That’s it, pure and simple,” he wrote.

Scarlett’s Agent: Disney Should Be ‘Ashamed’ Of Themselves

Scarlett Johansson's Agent Blasts Disney Over 'Black Widow' Legal War

“Disney’s direct attack on her character and all else they implied is beneath the company that many of us in the creative community have worked with successfully for decades,” he blasted.

The legal war will set precedence for entertainment and film companies who are using their streaming platforms to earn additional income on their films and tv shows. At this point, it is still more difficult to track how much a viewer is worth if they sign up for a monthly subscription to see an actor’s film, and how much of that should be shared with them.

At this point, Disney claims it earned $80 million at the U.S box office in its opening weekend and another $78 million at the worldwide box office. Plus, it raked in another $60 million for the Disney+ rental fees.

So, who gets what?! That is now for a judge to decide!
