Kanye West is backtracking on his recent controversial comments. He made a public apology to Kim Kardashian on Twitter after several public outbursts revealing details about their personal life.
“I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter,” he tweeted. “I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me.”

His apology comes after he accused Kim of trying to have him committed. He also made more comments during a campaign rally. Although he didn’t collect enough signatures to get on South Carolina’s presidential ballot, Kanye held a rally in Charleston. During it, he made abortion comments directed toward Kim and his late mother, Donda West.
“Even if my wife wants to divorce me after this speech she brought North into the world even when I didn’t want to,” he told the crowd. “She stood up and she protected that child. You know who else protected a child? 43 years ago, who do you think protected a child?”
He continued in tears, “My mom saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life, there would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy.”

Kim asked that people have compassion for Kanye in an Instagram story on July 22. “I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions,” she wrote. “He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of being an artist and a Black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bipolar disorder. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words sometimes do not align with his intentions.”
