Kaizer Chiefs will play their remaining 2019-2020 Absa Premiership home matches at Orlando Stadium in the Gauteng biologically safe environment (BSE). The stadium belongs to their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.

The league leaders will share the venue with Chippa United. The venues were announced in a televised draw on Wednesday morning.

Amakhosi explained on their official Twitter handle that they’ll not be able to use their home ground, FNB Stadium, as it will be an unfair advantage to other teams who have relocated to Gauteng for the remainder of the season.

“The PSL did a stadium draw just now (Wednesday) to determine which stadium will be used by which team. Since all games will be played in Gauteng, we cannot use FNB Stadium as it will be an unfair advantage since other teams cannot use their home grounds.”

Pirates will play their home games at Ellis Park, a stadium they will share with Lamontville Golden Arrows.

SowetanLIVE reports that all Premiership teams have to play behind closed doors at one of eight neutral venues in the Johannesburg and Pretoria BSE. The Gauteng-based teams are not allowed to play at their normal home venues.

In other news, Briefly.co.za reported that Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Irvin Khoza has announced during a press briefing that the PSL will resume in August, with the Nedbank Cup semi-final the first games to be played.

He made the announcement on Monday and gave 8 August as the date when the PSL would resume.

The kick-off times and venues will be announced in the future but what is known is that Bidvest Wits will host Mamelodi Sundowns and Baroka FC and Bloemfontein Celtic will play each other in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

In order to meet the September end date, games will be held every three days to make up for lost time due to the lockdown.
