Coach Gavin Hunt of Kaizer Chiefs has expressed his confusion by a goal that was disallowed during a Kaizer Chiefs and Swallows FC. The match took place on Tuesday evening this week at the Dobsonville Stadium.
Chiefs subsequently lost to the Swallows having had a final score of 1-0. A disappointed Hunt however feels like the decision to disallow a goal made by Daniel Cardoso may have been an unfair one.
The goal was disallowed after it was assessed that Cardoso had fouled Swallows goalkeeper, Virgil Vries while scoring the goal which if it stood, could have resulted in a much happier ending for Amakhosi who have now extended their losing streak to 5 matches.
Speaking after the match in a SuperSport interview, coach Hunt expressed both disappointment and confusion at the disallowed goal, citing that he was not sure why the goal had been disallowed.
“We had some great opportunities, scored the goal, I don’t know why it was disallowed, I’m not sure,” said a disappointed Hunt during the interview.
Meanwhile, soccer fans had this to say:
“Tomorrow some of our so-called senior players will come back on this app acting like nothing happened and post pics with captions like ‘Boss Ya Mboka’ and ‘Family Time.'”
“This loss serves us well. I’ve been saying time and time again that we need to start playing development players. These old crocks are tired. We’ve been using the same players for the past 6 years, what exactly have they brought?”
In other Briefly.co.za sports news, playing abroad is most South African football players’ dream. International fame, more money and a sense of achievement are just a few of the things gained when a local player makes it to overseas grounds, and this is exactly what Bloemfontein Celtics’ Victor Letsoalo would like to do.
According to reports, the 27-year-old soccer player has set a goal for himself – and that is to score 30 goals in the 2020/21 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign. Victor believes that scoring these goals will help make him as visible as possible to international soccer teams.
So far the Bloemfontein Celtic star has proved that he has got both the ambition and the drive to reach this goal, having already scored five goals and one assist in only five games for this season. He was also named the 2020 Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.
