Why Do Some People Hate Politics?

Politics, a game many people find distasteful, is often tainted by hypocrisy, fanaticism, and the pursuit of personal gain. Many are turned off by the endless cycle of lies, broken promises, and phony rhetoric perpetuated by politicians, especially those serving their own interests.

Avoiding Political Negativity

People like Donald Trump and his Republican allies are no strangers to negative campaigning. They often underestimate the intelligence of the public. Instead of checking their facts, they continually recycle disinformation, echoing their leader's frequent untruths.

The Media’s Role in Political Alienation

Idiocy and fanaticism often receive undue attention from the media. I am no prima donna, but I also do not resort to divisive tactics or engage in the polarizing debates between the left and the right. A significant portion of the population avoids local, state, and even congressional elections, seeing politics as a game more focused on popularity than substance.

The Decline in Political Civility

While some may blame the media, they remain a substantial part of the problem. The current political landscape, exemplified by the assassination attempt on Trump, has become increasingly toxic. Political leaders, including our presidents, increasingly behave childishly, lacking the class and decorum befitting public officials. Dehumanizing the other side to win ideological battles is unnecessary and unproductive.

The Public’s Perception of Politics

However, it is impossible to disengage from politics entirely. It influences almost every aspect of our lives. Yet, the sincerity of much of modern politics is under scrutiny. Politicians' lack of concrete stances and inconsistency only fuels public distrust. They often move between parties, forget their commitments, flip-flop, and prioritize money and power over public trust.

A Call for Sincere Politics

True politics, characterized by genuine views and meaningful discourse, is rare. Instead, it is a dirty game of power and money where crime families, in comparison, retain a semblance of ethics. The public deserves better, and politicians must rise to meet that expectation. Let us demand and support leaders who prioritize the public good, not personal gain.
