What Are the Admission Requirements for SC Candidates in AFMC Pune?

To gain admission into the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune as a Scheduled Caste (SC) candidate, the required marks can vary each year based on several factors, including the difficulty of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam, the overall performance of candidates, and the number of available seats.

General Information About Admission Requirements

As of 2023, SC candidates typically needed to score significantly higher than the minimum qualifying marks in the NEET exam, often around 550-600 marks out of 720 to have a competitive chance for AFMC. However, it is crucial to check the latest cut-off trends and official announcements from AFMC and the NEET conducting body, as these figures can change annually.

NEET Entrance Exam Score

Cracking the NEET entrance exam is essential. The higher your score, the better your chances of gaining admission to AFMC. The NEET score is a significant factor in determining the cut-off marks for admission. Usually, the cut-off marks vary based on the performance of candidates and the number of seats.

Cut-Off for Male and Female Candidates

This year, the cut-off for boys was set at 570, while for girls, it was 588. The cutoff is higher for girls since the number of seats allotted to female candidates is 25, as compared to 105 for male candidates. It is important to note that the cut-off is the same for all categories, and there is no reservation based on category at this point.

Admission Procedure

All candidates who score above the cut-offs are called for the AFMC Pune admission procedure. This procedure involves a comprehensive evaluation, including:

Test of English Logic and Reasoning (ToELR) Psychological evaluation One-on-one interview with a senior services personnel Panel interview Comprehensive medical checkup

Post the admission procedure, a merit list is prepared, and the top 105 boys and 25 girls are selected. Typically, there are two waitlists, one for boys and one for girls. It is not unusual for the first few waitlisted candidates to get selected.

Reserved Seats for SC/ST Candidates

AFMC Pune reserves 10 out of 130 seats for SC/ST candidates. These candidates must also feature in the top 500 candidates in the final merit list to be eligible for admission.

Application Process and Cutoffs for 2023

For the 2023 admission process, applicants must apply through the MCC (Medical College Council) website. Any person who qualifies the NEET exam can apply, but the final selection is based on one's NEET score, ToELR, and interview performance. On July 12th, the list of all candidates who had applied will be released. On July 13th, the list of the top 1500 candidates (1200 boys and 300 girls) who will be called for the interview and test will be announced.

All the best!
