The Gastronomic Journey at IIIT Jabalpur: From Mess Food to Non-Veg Delights

Hey there fellow 2023 batchmate here! Let's talk mess food, shall we? In the inaugural month, we were treated to a gastronomic delight. Fast forward a bit, and it seems the taste and quality are playing hide-and-seek. The classic mess food saga, isn't it? But hey, we signed up for this roller coaster!

The monthly menu shuffle is the silver lining. Even if the taste is doing somersaults, we get a front-row seat to a culinary circus. From idli, vada, sambhar, dosa, uttapam, paneer cutlet, noodles, fried rice, veg dum, gulab jamun, sev, upma, custard, dessert, to the showstopper – chilli potato, my taste buds are doing the happy dance.

Now let's talk ratings. I'd slap a 7/10 on our mess food. But you know how it goes – it's a subjective journey. What I savor someone else might wrinkle their nose at. My top picks from the paneer parade include sahi paneer, paneer tikka masala, and that elusive paneer tadka. Forgive me; the names are playing hide-and-seek in my memory.

But hold on, there's a voice of dissent. I have a friend who treats the mess like it's her arch-nemesis. She sits in front of the food unleashing a storm of curses, often reminding me of a slap intervention, a gentle reminder from her parents about the sacred art of respecting food. It's like she missed the memo on gratitude, considering there are kids out there who don't even know what a meal feels like.

Now, the mess rules – no snacks! The horror, right? Rumor has it non-veg might make a grand entrance soon. No dates confirmed yet – the suspense is killing us! Right now, we have 2 mess halls in our boys hostel, and 1 in the girls hostel. 'Salasar food services' is serving, with taste that is not very good but a moderate one. We have one night canteen at our boys hostel, but the prices are high. We have one canteen at our academic building, which operates from 7:30 AM until 10 PM, the prices are fair enough. Sadly, there is no canteen in the girls hostel.

Starting from APRIL 2024, our mess provides non-veg options too! We have CHICKEN DUM BIRIYANI, CHICKEN CHILLI, WET EGG CUSSY, AND CHICKEN MASALA. You gotta see our mess when it's 7:30 PM. A STAMPEDE CAN HAPPEN, IT'S THAT CROWDED. ALSO, THE FOOD IS DECENT!
