My Personal Journey

My journey to becoming an RRB JE started in January 2019 when I filled out the application form. One of my friends suggested filling the General Services department at the top-most priority. At the same time, I was preparing for SSC CGL and had already appeared in the SSC JE 2017, scoring 345 out of 500 but not attending the Detailed Verification (DV).

For my RRB JE preparation, I started reading NCERT books of science from 9th and 10th standard. On the day of the Lok Sabha elections, I spent the entire day watching news channels. The next day, my RRB JE exam commenced in the first shift. I managed to solve only 84 out of 100 questions, leaving me feeling somewhat disappointed. The exam for CBT 1 was held in mid-August, and I scored 85 marks after normalization.

CBT 2 was a relatively easy exam with formula-based numericals. I completed my paper in two rounds, solving approximately 90 questions in the first half hour and another few questions in the second round. In the SSC JE T1 exam, I attempted 172 out of 200 questions and scored 162 marks. I received my result while teaching my students, feeling overjoyed on Kharna Chhath, a significant festival for us.

The next day, I received an email notification about my selection, and finally, the result was declared on December 20th. This was the day I had been looking forward to since starting my preparation. After informing my students, I shared the news with my parents, who were ecstatic. After two days, the SSC JE 2018 T1 results were announced, followed by the T2 exam on December 30th. I managed to score 212 marks in T2, bringing my total to 374. I attended the DV in Kolkata and was inducted intoSER’s Chakradharpur division on Dhanteras, an auspicious day.

My journey to becoming a Junior Engineer with the Indian Railways is a testament to the power of structured preparation, dedication, and perseverance.
