Preparing for JEE Mains with Limited Time
Firstly, you have a fair amount of time. Therefore, there is no need to worry. If you are solving selected examples from Cengage, that would be very good, but it is not sufficient for your preparation. Based on my personal opinion, you should also solve problems from Dc Pandey and Arihant for additional practice. Simply solving problems from books or coaching materials is definitely not enough and will not fetch you decent marks in the exam.
The Importance of Mock Tests
Mock tests are crucial to your preparation. Try to attempt as many mock tests as possible to understand the type of mistakes you are making when solving problems during the test. Make notes of all your mistakes and review them before the next mock test to ensure you are not repeating them. Attempting a decent number of mock tests before the exam will help you learn many things. Most importantly, it will help you gauge your performance and identify areas that need more focus.
Effective Preparation Strategy
As you are approximately one month left for the JEE Mains 2022, it is important to revise previous years' papers. Books like the one in the image below, available on Amazon Kindle, can be a great reference. However, if you just need to clear the JEE Main, Cengage examples are sufficient, but you might only get around a 90–92 percentile, which is not high enough to secure a good NIT (National Institute of Technology).
To achieve a 97 percentile, you need to solve exercises and DPPs as well. This additional practice will ensure you have a better understanding of the concepts and can perform well in the exam. Deepak Verma’s math classes on YouTube can provide a solid theoretical foundation, and PDF notes are also available for your convenience.
Additional Tips to Enhance Your Preparation
Doing only examples is not enough as your mind does not open up to new concepts. Students often have an illusion that they know everything, but the reality is somewhat different. During the exam, they struggle and are unable to solve questions because they have only gone through the examples. To overcome this, you need to practice unsolved questions and make solutions your last resort.
Consider solving Cengage DPP (Daily Practice Problems) if possible. Deepak Verma’s math classes on YouTube are highly recommended for theory, and PDF notes are also available for you to follow.
Be enthusiastic, stay focused, and work hard. With a disciplined and strategic approach, you will definitely make it!
ALL THE BEST!
