Why Do You View Your Own Creativity the Way You Do?
In all honesty, I don’t view my creativity as anything special. I simply write, edit, and publish. Each piece might fit into a larger puzzle, but I am merely one of the puzzle pieces, created by the infinite wisdom of consciousness. There has never been an agenda other than seeking the truth.
The Infinite Wisdom of Consciousness
I believe that the views of creativity that vary from person to person are shaped by the infinite wisdom of consciousness. My perspective on creativity stems from this belief, and it guides the way I approach and perceive my own work.
A Childhood Blessing: Early Beginnings of Creativity
I feel that my journey with creativity started at a very early age. As a child, my mother taught me to sew when I was still quite young. Living in a family of six on a military salary meant that we needed to create solutions to our needs, such as clothing and fashion items. This early exposure to creativity ignited a passion that has stayed with me throughout my life.
From Sewing to Writing: A Lifelong Journey
My love for creativity took many forms. I read books well past my bedtime with a flashlight, and even in grade school, I enjoyed writing poetry and prose. My careers were also centered around retail and wholesale women's fashion. If I were a modern-day entrepreneur, I could be like Steve Jobs, wearing the same jeans all the time, purely for the love of the creative process.
Embracing Creativity: From Fashion to Publishing
In the last few years, I began to publish my work. Amazon made it incredibly easy to do so. My memoir LOVE The Beat Goes On was written in 2008, following a diagnosis of only six months to live. I healed and decided to share this story to help people be positive and uplifting, which has been a meaningful experience for many.
The Evolution of Creativity: From Painting to Photography
Painting was another creative passion of mine, but over time, I found it challenging to bring artwork on the road with me. When I began to travel extensively in 2019, I gave up on painting and embraced photography instead. I even had a darkroom at one point, and while my book covers today are professionally designed, the Raven Series showcases my original photography skills.
The Role of Creativity in Daily Life
Creativity is a constant in my life. While I am fortunate enough to live in Istanbul, Turkey, where the food is exceptional, I have found myself too busy writing to cook. Instead, I enjoy watching chef shows on Netflix to unwind.
Ultimately, my journey with creativity is a personal and evolving one. It’s about embracing the process, understanding the perspective of others, and finding balance in an ever-changing world.
