Overcoming Adversity: My Journey to MBBS

Overcoming Adversity: My Journey to MBBS

Matching my lifelong dream of becoming a doctor is by no means an easy road. I am now entering my third attempt to secure a spot in the MBBS program, a journey filled with both triumphs and setbacks. Each year, I try to improve and strengthen my resolve, learning from the challenges of the previous year.

Challenges and Struggles

My first year of dropout was heavily influenced by health issues, particularly affecting my ability to focus on subjects like Physics. Consequently, my performance that year was unfavorable. However, with guidance and determination, my second year dropout became a turning point. Focusing all my efforts on studying, I was able to convert my weakness into a strength. Physically, I scored between 125 to 155 marks in the AIATS 2018 Physics examination, while my Chemistry improved significantly from the previous year. My overall preparation was promising, and I felt more confident in my abilities.

A NEET 2018 Experience

Leading up to the NEET 2018 examination, I dedicated my time to rigorous practice, solving previous year papers of NEET/AIPMT. I was optimistic about my performance, expecting marks between 580 to 650. Unfortunately, the day of the exam turned out to be different from my expectations. I began with the Physics section and found the questions more calculative and time-consuming than usual. While Biology was relatively easy and Chemistry was moderate, my tightly held confidence began to wane after struggling with the Physics section. This led to a decline in my subsequent answers, and I was left disappointed when I didn't perform as well as hoped.

Lessons Learned and Moving Forward

The experience was disheartening, but it was not the end. I spent days crying, overwhelmed by the realization that I had let my ambitions slip through my fingers. However, I knew my tears wouldn't bring me any closer to my goal. After a week, I met with my Physics teacher and, with his encouragement, decided to take another drop. His words have resonated with me, HARD WORK PAYS OFF EITHER SOONER OR LATER.

This time, I am determined to face the worst-case scenario and avoid repeating my mistakes. I have devised a better plan this time, allocating more time for all subjects and understanding the importance of a balanced approach. I am more prepared and confident, understanding that my success in MBBS has to come from a combination of hard work and strategic preparation.

By sharing my experience, I hope to inspire others who are facing similar challenges in their pursuit of higher education, particularly in the medical field. The journey may be filled with challenges, but the end goal is within reach, provided you are willing to put in the effort and learn from each setback.
