Effective Internship at SAG, Delhi

I, a student of MSc Applied Mathematics at South Asian University, found the DRDO internship to be a valuable opportunity. Here is a detailed procedure to get an internship at DRDO:

Apply Well Before: Begin your application process early, ideally in February if your internship starts in May. Focus on Laboratory Selection: Choose the labs based on your area of interest. For mathematics, ISSA and SAG are excellent options in Delhi. Network Effectively: Building contacts can be helpful, but if you don't have any, don't worry. Apply to multiple labs.

The key to success in an DRDO internship lies in your mentor. DRDO scientists are busy, and getting a good mentor who pays attention to your work is crucial. My mentor, Mr. Girish Mishra, called us twice a week, paying full attention each time. We had to prepare well to deliver quality work on those days. This mentorship helped us learn Python, machine learning, deep learning, and various cryptography algorithms. We also had the opportunity to co-author research papers, which were sent to journals for peer review.

Though DRDO does not provide a stipend, it is a great opportunity if you are committed to pursuing research. The internship is all about making the best use of the potential at DRDO. Show consistent interest, deliver results, and seek additional assignments. If you show laziness, they may not invest time in you. However, with a dedicated mentor, the experience can be very rewarding.
