My Journey from NEET 2021 to Joining Sarojini Naidu Medical College Agra
Aspiring medical students often wonder about their journey after the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) results are announced. I, Arya, had a similar path. My NEET 2021 score of 648/720 with an All India Rank (AIR) of 4307 led to me getting into RIMS Ranchi, a prestigious medical college in the Indian state of Jharkhand.
The Path to NEET 2021
My academic journey didn't always reflect the potential I had. Until class 10, I was one of the top students, consistently in the top 3 ranks. After class 10 exams, I decided to focus on engineering due to the belief that medical aspirants typically struggle with physics and chemistry. However, for biology, I relied solely on school until class 11. This decision cost me heavily as I barely passed class 11 with just the passing marks. In class 12, I struggled with the vast chemistry syllabus, especially inorganic chemistry, which left me feeling overwhelmed. My biology texts started piling up unread. My performance in biology plummeted, resulting in poor test scores.
The NEET 2020 Experience
With no college to show for my efforts, I took the NEET 2020 exam and scored 580 marks, which wasn't enough to secure a seat.
The Decision to Take a Gap Year
Feeling demotivated and uncertain, I decided to take a gap year to prepare better for NEET 2021. This decision was not easy, as I was from Bihar and my parents preferred me to stay closer to home for support. I joined a coaching institute but only attended classes that I felt were necessary. I put all my effort into biology, reciting the NCERT books daily and focusing on inorganic chemistry. My hard work paid off as I emerged from the gap year well-prepared and confident.
The Success of NEET 2021
My efforts culminated in the NEET 2021 exam where I scored 648/720 with an AIR of 4307. The breakdown of my score was as follows:
Biology: 355/360 Chemistry: 141/180 Physics: 152/180While I did make a few mistakes in chemistry, including bubbling errors, these small regrets did not detract from the overall success of my preparation.
Life at RIMS Ranchi
Life at RIMS Ranchi has been both challenging and rewarding. The college is known for its supportive atmosphere, with batch mates and seniors who help each other navigate the demanding medical curriculum. I've made some wonderful friends who are integral to my life. While the academic rigor can be exhausting, the camaraderie and fun we share as a batch ensure that we find happiness amidst the stress.
For any aspiring medical students out there, remember to trust the process and yourself. Hard work and perseverance will lead to success.
Conclusion
My journey from NEET 2021 to joining RIMS Ranchi is a testament to the power of determination and hard work. If you're at a similar crossroads and feeling uncertain, remember that with the right approach, success is achievable. Trust yourself and keep studying diligently.
