What's the Craziest Thing That Happened in Middle School?

Instead of pranks and bizarre incidents, my story is a tale of two different events - one involving a harmless joke and another that turned into a tragic outcome. This story is two parts that showcase a mix of innocence, curiosity, and the consequences that can follow when things go awry.

Part 1 - The Joke Gone Awry

Schoolmates and Jokes: In seventh grade, my friend was talking to an older kid, and the older kid jokingly mentioned bombing the school. Mistaken Identity: A teacher overheard them, but my friend didn’t do anything wrong. Due to a misunderstanding, both were taken to the office. Unfolding Drama: Soon after, we saw police cars outside the school office. Curious, me and a few friends snuck a peek inside and saw our friend talking to a security guard or a cop. Worried, we thought they had been arrested. Resolution: Our friend wasn’t arrested, but the older kid was suspended for two weeks. Some suspicious rumors suggest he might have been sent to a mental institution.

What a bizarre start to middle school, right? But it only gets more interesting as the story unfolds...

Part 2 - The Tragic Turning Point

Months later, the school received a police report about an older kid who had gone missing in his neighborhood, along with a twelve-year-old who didn’t attend our school. It quickly became a school-wide mystery.

Speculations: Many speculated that the older kid had kidnapped the twelve-year-old, possibly killed him, or vice versa. Even his friends started to believe it might be true. Tragic Discovery: About a week later, both bodies were found in different rivers of the same city, ending the uncertainty.

While these events might seem unrelated, they serve as a stark reminder of the unpredictable and serious nature of middle school life.

Pranks and Fiascos

From a different angle, I am guilty of setting off some outrageous pranks in school. These definitely stood out - not just confined to the traditional setting of the locker room.

Locker Room Fiascos: One time, in the PE class, I pulled out a strip of firecrackers and set them off, causing a panic and smoke filling the room. Everyone thought it was gunshots! School Dances and Gymnastics: I've also set off firecrackers at school dances in the bathroom and in the gym. In another infamous incident, I set off a bottle rocket at the basketball court during a game. Consequences: These pranks put me in hot water with the school faculty and have become a part of our school’s infamous lore. They were not the only incidents - they happened, and I face the consequences for every one of them.

But it’s not all bad. The stories and pranks are what make middle school experiences so memorable!

A Tragic Homecoming

My story also takes a darker turn with a scandal involving another student. My friend, who looks like she could be on the cover of Teen Magazine, had an incident at a very young age.

Infamous Incident: One evening, her mother came home early and found her on her knees between her boyfriend's legs, engaged in an intimate activity. The boyfriend immediately made a mess of the situation. Consequences: The mother was beside herself, calling her father to send her to Utah to live with her grandmother, an active member of the local Mormon church. This event not only left the girl tormented but also reflected on the social dynamics of our middle school.

While the school and family attempted to handle the incident privately, the news spread like wildfire. The boy became the hero, and the girl became the object of ridicule and speculation.

Though this story is filled with nonsense, it serves as a reminder of the lasting impressions made in middle school. It might seem trivial in retrospect, but at the time, it was a significant event that shaped the dynamics within our school.
