Maximizing Your Score in Class 10 Math Board Exam with One Month Preparation

Dear students, I managed to score full marks (80/80) in the 10th CBSE Board exam in 2019-2020, providing you with a guide on how to achieve similar success in just one month of preparation. If you follow these strategies, you can also excel in your exams.

Thorough Textbook Coverage

The first step is to be fully acquainted with the NCERT textbook. I personally solved the entire textbook twice during my academic year. If you are enrolled in the Standard Mathematics course, make sure you are well-versed in the optional exercises because they are very likely to appear in the final exam. You will also find similar problems in the reference books and practice papers.

Reference Books and Additional Practice

For additional practice, I recommend solving reference books such as RD Sharma and your coaching materials regularly. In the last two to three months before the final exam, ensure you solve around 25-30 previous year's papers and practice papers under time constraints. This will help you understand the exam pattern, improve your speed, and build confidence.

Formula Memorization and Revision

Before the exam, write down important formulae from chapters like Surface Areas and Volumes, Statistics, etc. Revise these formulae thoroughly. During the exam, having a strong grip on the fundamental concepts and formulae will be crucial. Many marks are lost due to silly mistakes, so focus on a strong understanding and application rather than rote learning.

Exam Day Strategies

On the day of the exam, start by selecting the questions you are confident about from Section B during the initial 15 minutes. If you have extra time, attempt more questions. Aim to finish the directed number of questions in two hours and use the remaining time for thorough revision. By remaining calm and revising systematically, you can avoid last-minute panic and score more marks.

Managing Panic and Absent-Minded Mistakes

One big takeaway from my experience was about managing stress and maintaining presence of mind. I once lost marks in an MCQ by mistakenly interchanging the values of tan 30 and tan 60. This highlights the importance of staying focused and confident during the exam. Always go through the entire textbook conceptually and refer to previous year's papers for additional practice. The key is to avoid silly mistakes and maintain your presence of mind.
