One of the first steps in the journey of securing a seat is achieving a high rank. Here we highlight the experiences of three individuals who participated in various rounds of counseling.

Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) vs. Computer Science (CS)

Experience of Student 1: My rank was 790 in the general open category, and despite the inclination towards computer science (CS), I ended up securing a seat in electronics and communication engineering (ECE). The cutoff for CS after the last round of counseling was 788GNOP, which I missed by a narrow margin. It was a close call, and I felt both relieved and disappointed simultaneously.

Just to clarify, MMSET ranks are often categorized by general, reserved categories, and the specific cutoffs can vary. The 'GNOP' in the cutoff might represent the General Non-OBC category.

Mechanical Engineering (ME) - Through Up-gradation

Experience of Student 2: My rank stood at 656, and I was lucky enough to secure a seat in mechanical engineering (ME) through up-gradation from electronics and communication engineering (ECE). It happened on the second day of the first round of counseling, marking the beginning of a new academic journey. Up-gradation is a process where students from one branch are moved to another, often due to a higher demand in a specific branch.

First Choice: Mechanical Engineering, Second Choice: Electrical Engineering

Experience of Student 3: My dream was to secure a place in mechanical engineering (ME). However, the competition was intense, with just 60 seats per branch available. Unbeknownst to me, I managed to secure a seat in electrical and electronics engineering (EEE), which was my second choice. This was during the first round of counseling, which proved quite a fortunate turn of events.

There were only 330 seats available in MMMUT MMEC at that time, indicating a higher demand for ME, which might have explained the limited seats. This experience reflects the dynamic nature of counseling rounds, where ranks play a crucial role in determining the final allocation of seats.

However, the competition can be stiffer as more students are vying for the remaining seats.
