Is Admission to IIMs Possible with a 70% 12th Board Score and 86% 10th Board Score for Fresh Graduates?
Can I Get Admission in IIMs with Poor Board Scores?
Yes, but building your corporate profile is crucial. By managing a profitable firm for at least 12 years successfully, you can compensate for lower academic scores. Often, when your academic performance is not up to par, you can shine in other areas such as being exceptionally knowledgeable in a specific field.
The key is to showcase your worldly wisdom. Invest your time and build your corporate world with humble beginnings. With patience and wisdom, you can maneuver your business effectively. This demonstrates your leadership and strategic skills, which are highly valued by the IIMs.
Other Factors That Can Boost Your Chances
While a 70% in 12th and 86% in 10th are challenging, it's not impossible. Other factors such as your CAT score, work experience, and your graduation score can significantly enhance your chances. If your graduation marks are around 75%, which indicates consistency, it’s a positive indicator. However, if they’re higher, it shows you are improving over time.

IPM IIM Form Eligibility
To be eligible for an IPM (Industrial and Petrochemical Management) program at IIMs such as IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Bodhgaya, and IIM Jammu, certain eligibility criteria need to be met. Your current scores of 90.4 and 76.5 in 10th and 12th are sufficient, provided you qualify the aptitude test and personal interview. My profile, with 95 and 78.4 in 10th and 12th respectively, is very similar to yours, and I am currently a part of the third batch of IPM IIM Rohtak.
Final Thoughts
If you are currently in undergraduate studies, focus on maximizing your graduation marks and preparing for the CAT. With a strong CAT score and some work experience, you can still secure a seat in an IIM. Best of luck!
Conclusion: While your board scores are not ideal, a well-rounded profile with strong work experience and a good CAT score can significantly boost your chances of securing an admission to IIMs.
