From Managers to Space Explorers: My Last Gaming Journey

It's been quite a journey through the gaming world, and I find myself pondering the various titles I've delved into recently. My last game played could be either AC Odyssey or AC Valhalla. I've been steadily working through these titles, often switching between them as other responsibilities call. Currently, I'm only a short stretch away from finishing Valhalla, with just a couple of River Raids left. Similarly, I have a few DLCs in Odyssey to round out my experience.

From Sports to Space

Before diving into these games, I engaged in a space exploration game called X4: Foundations. This game was a filler between the release of Starfield, which I had pre-ordered and was eagerly anticipating. However, the fact that I had both X3 and X4 in my library sparked my interest. While I recall spending around 60 hours in X3 without any particular memories, my attempts to progress in X4 had been hindered by the tutorial.

Over 440 hours into the game, X4: Foundations has become a significant part of my daily routine. On average, I dedicate 6 to 8 hours a day to it, with heavier commitments on weekends. This game has a unique appeal, offering an immersive and engaging experience with a mix of strategic elements. The game’s intricate mechanics involve "whack-a-mole" encounters with hostile enemies, optimizing factory outputs, managing trade routes, and expanding my empire by mapping an entire galaxy.

The Glorious Addiction

One recent evening, I was caught up in the excitement of synchronizing an incursion to reclaim a sector from the Xenon. This involved a complex series of actions, such as coordinating the destruction of enemy stations while avoiding getting overwhelmed by enemy fleets from neighboring systems. Simultaneously, I was also boarding and claiming a pirate destroyer that was disrupting a trade route in hostile space. In the midst of all this, I didn't even notice when a miner was attacked and killed on the other side of know space!

The sheer amount of building and planning involved in the game is incredible. The game auto-saves every half an hour, and it feels like each save happens in a blink of an eye in-game. Entire hours can go by before I realize it's late and I need to stop for the day. It's truly a gaming addiction in the truest sense of the word.

A Journey Through Gaming

Interestingly enough, in my last game experience, before all this space exploration, I was engrossed in Championship Manager 2020/21. It's intriguing how the gaming world can be so diverse, and how each game offers a unique experience. From the strategic complexities of football management to the space travel of X4: Foundations, and back to the excitement of ancient civilizations in AC Odyssey and Valhalla, my gaming journey continues to evolve and captivate me.

Conclusion

My gaming journey is a testament to the diverse and captivating nature of digital entertainment. Whether it's managing a football team, exploring the vast expanses of space, or revisiting ancient tales, each game provides a unique and enriching experience. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just starting out, the world of gaming is full of endless possibilities and adventures.
