FTRE and FIITJEE Scholarship Controversies: Insights and Perspectives

What are your rank and marks in the FTRE 2019 Class 10 and are you going to the FIITJEE?

Recently, I secured 408 marks with a rank of 187 in the FTRE (FTIET Research Excellence) exam for Class 10.

Scholarship Details

Here are the details regarding my scholarship and DLP (Dipendra Learning Program) details:

Scholarship: I received a 50 percent tuition fee scholarship at the FIITJEE South Delhi center. Personality Development and Life Skills Program (DLP): My DLP participation details will follow in the subsequent section.

Key Points of Comparison Between FTRE and Big Bang

This year, I appeared for both the Big Bang exam and the FTRE exam. Here are the details of my performance in both exams:

Big Bang Exam: I scored 277.75 out of 450. FTRE Exam: I secured 311.50 out of 450.

Interestingly, despite the difference in difficulty and syllabus, the scholarship criteria for both exams is the same—50 percent tuition fee scholarship.

Implications of Academic Policies

The scholarship provided at FIITJEE is based on performance in the selected exams. Here are some observations:

Bang and FTRE Comparison: In the Big Bang exam, 100 percent scholarship was given to candidates scoring above 307. However, in the FTRE exam, the cut-off for 100 percent scholarship was significantly higher, at 375. This difference is surprising given the similar scholarship criteria.

Exam Leak Scandal: A thorough search shows that the FTRE 2019 paper was leaked in Delhi and other centers. Over 85 percent of the questions were recycled from the 2017 exam. This leak was known to the students well in advance, leading to severe consequences. The raised cut-off score is a direct result of this leak.

Institutional Response: FIITJEE South Delhi is now facing criticism for its handling of the exam leak. The institution reportedly does not have the necessary time to reassess the importance of such leaky questions. Additionally, the leak is reducing their focus on distributing cash scholarships, thereby affecting the distribution of educational opportunities.

Conclusion

These findings indicate that while FIITJEE claims to provide merit-based scholarships, the recent leak in the FTRE exam compromised this system. Students like myself are left questioning the fairness of the scholarship criteria and the institution's ability to uphold academic integrity.
