Who Can Apply for Inspire Scholarships?

The INSPIRE scholarship is targeted at students with exceptional academic performance who wish to pursue courses in natural and basic sciences at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Below are the specific eligibility criteria:

Criteria A: High-Performing Class XII Exam Students

Students who have achieved the top 1 percentile in their Class XII examination (either at the state or central level) are eligible. They must also be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (B.S.) or Integrated Course (Inte) in Natural and Basic Sciences.

Criteria B: Successful in National and Competitive Exams

Students who have secured top 10,000 ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) or All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Test (AIPMT) are eligible. They should be currently pursuing Integrated or Bachelor’s or Master’s level courses in Natural and Basic Sciences in India.

Criteria C: IISERs, NISER, and DAE CCS Students

Students who have obtained the top percentage in their Class XII examination and are pursuing Integrated M.S. courses in Natural and Basic Sciences at renowned institutions such as IISERs, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), and the Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Basic Sciences at the University of Mumbai, and Visva-Bharati Shanti Niketan are also eligible.

Criteria D: KVPY Scholars

Students who have been selected under the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) and are pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s level courses in Natural Sciences are eligible for the scholarship.

Criteria E: Talent Search Exam Scholars

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholars, Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) scholars, and International Olympiad medalists, who are pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s level courses in Natural Sciences, are eligible for the scholarship.

Courses that fall outside of these subjects, such as engineering, medicine, military science, defence studies, agriculture, psychology, seed technology, home science, geography, economics, education (including dual degree programs), biotechnology, computer science, computer applications, bioinformatics, instrumentation, information technology, and physical education courses in distance education mode at open universities, as well as other professional courses, are not eligible.
