Education Reform: Debunking False Narratives and Supporting Charter Schools
It seems like a positive step for building America's future, a similar idea to the American Society of Civil Engineers' advocacy for infrastructure attention. However, when we see names like Michael Bloomberg among the founders, my support is withdrawn completely.
What New “Fund” Is This?
The proposal for a new educational fund from the construction unions is nothing more than a request for tax money to build highways to nowhere. In my opinion, the best education policy would be to shut down half of the high schools and colleges and redirect resources to provide practical, job-ready skills for those between the ages of 14 and 18. An eighth-grade education is sufficient for more than half the population.
Liberal vs. Conservative Education Systems
The debate between liberal teachers unions and conservative charter school systems comes down to the quality of education each offers. Crappy teachers who prop themselves up with raises annually, versus excellent teachers who are dedicated and can be fired for subpar performance.
In the realm of education, the teachers' unions hold significant sway. Every time legislation mentions "education," it's about padding the pockets and pensions of teachers. My feelings toward teachers are not positive. They work 6 hours a day for seven and a half months a year and receive a very generous pension and lifetime medical coverage, over 100 medical options, excluding the "crap" that is Obamacare.
Charter School Teachers and Education Quality
The real heroes are charter school teachers, who make less money, work more hours, and can lose their jobs if they don't perform. These are teachers who are in the profession because they love teaching, not because of the benefits.
When parents are genuinely involved in their children's education, they must ask their kids what they are learning. A litmus test is to see if their teachers teach them that Republicans freed slaves and fought for civil rights, while Democrats delayed. If the answer is not along these lines, the classroom is not using educators; it's propagandists.
The Teachers' Union Influence
The narrative that Democrats are against charter and private schools and the voucher program is a misleading one. The truth is that the teachers' unions, often associated with the Democratic party, receive generous benefits from these systems. In the 1970s, the mafia-controlled building and sanitation in New York restricted the installation of garbage disposals in apartments, increasing the need for more sanitation workers and a larger union. Similarly, the Democrats don't want teachers to teach the truth, fearing that students would grow up not supporting them and voting for Democrats.
The Impact of Education on Society
The wholesale deterioration of education quality has had a significant impact on American society. Dropout rates, teen pregnancies, and drug use have all increased since the liberal movement took hold of our schools. Supporting the truth in education means fighting against indoctrination and promoting competence and accountability among teachers.
So, when you hear the word "education" in a bill or state proposition, remember that it's not about the students, but padding the pockets of the teachers' unions who helped elect the Democrats who authored the bill.
