How Was Your BITSAT 2017 and What Is Your Score?
Sorries, but if you are thinking that knowing someone else's score will dictate your actions, let me suggest a different approach. If you aspire to join BITS, start preparing now. Ensure your basics are clear and revise all the subjects 4-5 times before the exam. The paper, while not tough, is lengthy, so work smart and not hard. Take mock tests and practice thoroughly. All the best for the exam!
My Personal Experience:
My advice is to follow the institute's guidance and choose your preferred BITSAT date. I selected the morning slot on May 23rd, contrary to my teacher's wishes. I was relieved because I was tired of studying PCM and believed that a day was enough to prepare for English. More importantly, I was eager to go home!
Despite not solving practice tests, I was fairly confident of achieving a decent score. As per senior advice, speed was crucial. Here's how I approached the exam:
Started with English Logical Reasoning (LR): Found most questions straightforward with only a couple being challenging. Attempted 20 out of 25 in the first go. Took about 15 minutes. Moved to Chemistry: NCERT-based questions, straightforward but a few factual ones requiring memorization. Attempted 30 out of 40 questions. Took about 30 minutes. Physics: Found it the easiest with simple, conceptual, and formula-based questions. Attempted almost every question. Took about 35 minutes. Maths: Not as challenging as expected, covered almost all topics with simple questions. Skipped the last 8 trickier questions and returned later. Left 8 questions and took about 45 minutes. With 15 minutes left, I attempted the bonus questions and completed them in 11-12 minutes. My score was 438/450, a result I was quite happy with. My teacher was pleased to hear about this score!
My BITSAT 2017 Experience
I took my BITSAT on May 27, 2017, in the 2-5 PM slot. I arrived at the center an hour early, but it wasn't a wise move. I was unprepared mentally for the exam, which can be a huge factor. I recommend arriving 30 minutes early to avoid being blank for the exam's start.
My strategy was as follows:
English Logical Reasoning (LR): Straightforward questions with a few tricky ones. Attempted 20 out of 25 in the first go. Took about 15 minutes. Chemistry: NCERT-based questions with some factual ones requiring knowledge. Attempted 30 out of 40. Took about 30 minutes. Physics: Found it the easiest with simple, conceptual, and formula-based questions. Attempted most questions. Took about 35 minutes. Maths: Not as challenging as I expected. Attempted most questions, leaving 8 tricky ones for later. Took about 45 minutes.By the time the 3 hours were over, I had completed the paper and had 15 minutes left for bonus questions. Attempted 11-12 questions and submitted with 1 minute left. My final score was 391, with 161 attempted and 23 incorrect. The score was good, and I had a decent backup plan in mind.
Conclusion
Your score doesn't define your future; circumstances play a significant role. Don't judge someone based on their score alone. The 3-hour exam can't determine your capabilities and potential. Best of luck to all upcoming BITSAT aspirants, and remember that hard work and smart preparation are key to success.
