An Unforgettable Board Exam Experience: From Struggles to Triumph
Dear fellow readers, best wishes to all of you! I must admit, my pre-board exam results were not my proudest moment. However, my school board results in 2023 turned out to be truly surprising and gratifying.
Shocking Yet Heartwarming: My Board Exam Experience
Before diving into my full story, let me set the context. I always find myself in the top 10 percent in my school, but I have not been a top-ranked student. For years, I've been considered a middle barker, enjoying the comfort of being average. However, when the final exams approached, everything changed.
My grade 10th started off smoothly enough. I was chill, enjoying my time, but then hit by the first pre-board exams. My scores plummeted from around 90-95 to 65-70. This was the first time I struggled to achieve a decent score. Taking inspiration from this setback, I studied harder and improved to around 80-85 by the time of the main exams. However, February rolled around, and I found myself relaxing with friends instead of studying. On February 3rd, reality hit me: the board exams were just around the corner, and I had hardly studied at all. Despite knowing the concepts, I was not ready for the exams. Over the last month, my preparation involved sample papers, previous year's questions (PYQs), and NCERT textbooks.
The Exam Day
As the month progressed, I managed to schedule my time better. My exams concluded, and I felt confident about my performance, especially in subjects other than mathematics. However, math was always my Achilles' heel. When the day of the exam arrived, I maintained my composure and performed as expected.
The Hectic Waiting Period
Post-exam, the waiting period began. After a month of anxiety and anticipation, the day of result declaration arrived. I rushed to my 10th grade class teacher for my admit card, but she was busy. I returned to the library, where I encountered my computer teacher, who offered words of encouragement. My heart was racing as I waited for the results to load on his computer. Finally, the screen revealed the results: two grades of 2s. This was a complete surprise—especially since I did well only in one of the subjects. I sat in shock for a moment, processing the information. My class teacher congratulated me but remarked that he had higher expectations from me. I felt disheartened, contemplating the 78% score.
The Revelation
As I walked back to class, my 11th grade science class, I was in a daze. I called my mother to inform her that I had received my results. She, however, was thrilled and talked about celebration plans, which seemed a bit out of place. Eventually, I walked into the class and found other students crying and celebrating. I was emotionally drained, collapsing into my seat.
My chemistry teacher came to me, asking if everything was alright, if I had any compartmental exams, and if I was okay. He reassured me, knowing that I was likely to be overwhelmed. He took my admit card, calculated the scores, and announced that I had a remarkable 95.2%. He explained that if I had included the top 5 subjects, my score would have been 93.2%. At that moment, I knew that the shortlisted subjects mattered, but I was ultimately grateful for the good result.
The Struggle and Triumph
Although I did not achieve the exact scores I had hoped for, I felt a sense of accomplishment. I knew I had performed well and that what mattered was my focus on the upcoming NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) examinations. The day I received my results, I felt a sense of relief and happiness, marking a new chapter in my academic journey.
Attaching the result for reference, I achieved a final percentage of 93.2%. This heartfelt experience reminds me that sometimes, unexpected results can turn our world upside down, leading us to unexpected successes. Remember, it's not about the score itself but the journey you take to reach it. Keep pushing forward!
